The Chit-Chat is more important than the lesson….
Great article this.
My Style on this years challenge has caused quite the stir this year. This article has actually nailed it pretty well.
Come on Ed, is all this chit chat really necessary? | Gee Whizz! Marketing
Come on Ed, is all this chit chat really necessary?Actually, I’ve just been reading Ed’s post on the thirty day challenge blog (I know, I’m waaay behind… but I’m getting there).
I remember in school (many moons ago) one teacher, my maths teacher in fact (Mr Prodromou if you’re reading this I’m referring to you), who seemed to only teach the lesson at hand.
I didn’t really like maths that much, but his style of teaching, even though all he would talk about was maths, made it more interesting.
But, get this, although he only taught the maths lesson… he didn’t only teach maths. Although it seemed like it, here and there he would make the odd comments, or make the odd joke that didn’t really consciously register in our heads (or at least not in mine).
But, on the subconscious level, it affected the way we thought. I mean, it must have done. How else could I stomach a subject I would rather not have taken, given the choice?

Real people chit chat. Real people relate to and trust real people. Keep it real, Ed!
This is a great blog post – their’s that is because of this key line:
But, I’ll tell you this, a lot more would switch off a lot earlier if all we heard were Ed’s voice droning on about internet marketing and sod all else.

So before we think Ed is being ‘attacked’ – this person is making a great point – that it is about buying into the person, trusting them, feeling them to be real – that inevitably gets us to put our hands in our pockets (and that’s not just ot jangle our keys
)

You’re absolutely right Carol (as usual). It’s Ed’s down to earth personable nature that I enjoy.
The very first time I met Ed was from an under achiever seminar (on DVD) where he hosted along with Frank Kern and John Reese.
I absolutely loved this seminar and it was the thing that got me interested in internet marketing in the first place.

Ed, you are a NUT!! in your podcast today you cracked me up (i think it was the part about getting distracted by the ambulance). anyway, all your crazy antics (natural, obviously) are what makes it less like im in a lecture theatre wishing i brought my pillow.
you put the ‘Ed’ in legend, that is if it were spelt ledgend. but for now i think i’ll call you Mr. Ed.

Started off sounding like an attack, then
defended Ed’s style.
That’s what professional editors are for, but
blog posts will never have any…
I too, first saw Ed on a seminar DVD with Frank Kern, and…wow…the chemistry (not like that kind of chemistry) it was like watching a comedy show…but you know what-I was hooked and now every morning I get up and can’t wait to see the latest podcast for the 30DC, firstly for its awesome content and secondly for the delivery style!! keep it up Ed (and thats a real compliment comin’ from a Kiwi)
