Jobs - Bad Ass Deal Maker
This is SUCH a clever deal.
Hey Record companies you want more cash for your tunes - make them DRM Free….
Smart.
Consumers have a choice. ITunes will dominate and the other record companies will fall into line.
Why
Always Back Self-Interest.
30 cents a tune is a big deal.
Now - I’m guessing they will test the waters from May to say October (Ipod announcing season) and assuming there is not a massive drop off in sales (which of course there won’t - I for one will not have to buy EMI CD’s any more for my sonos system and i’ll happily pay the extra for that)
Then in November - will come the coolest ipod ever - the Beatles Video ipod - with the entire beatles library on it - and every Baby Boomer will have to buy one. And Yoko, Paul, Ringo, and the Harrison family - will have make more money in a single day than any artist in history.
The thing that amazes me is Jobs capacity to turn enemies into business partners. Apple Inc marches on and Job’s cements his position as the most creative executive in history…
Of course - I could be completely wrong

Totally agreed, I for one hate DRM as a screws with my home audio network and it certainly would reduce my hits to allofmp3.com
